What is Reiki? How does it work?
Reiki(ray-key) is a Japanese energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle to no touch by working with the body's Biomagnetic field or energy energy field which consists of the energetic anatomy aka chakras/meridians etc., which connect to every organ/system in the body. This field interacts with the biofield which feeds information to the nervous systems via sensory perception and computes such sensory experiences to the brain which create our day-to-day experiences.
Consider a wall outlet, phone charger and cell phone. Reiki-is the energy that flows through the outlet, the Reiki Practitioner- is the charger and the Client- is the cell phone. During a session both client and practitioner benefit as the practitioner is a conduit and healing partner that life force energy flows through. (What's a cell phone without a charger?) Reiki is a facet of Divinity, an intelligence and will always flow to where it's needed most through raising the vibration of the client and placing the client's own energy into an optimal healing state.
I personally have experiences reiki as divine love in its purest form. It is a facet of the supreme intelligence that is the source of all things from the tangible to the intangible. From thoughts to things. It is the intelligence that flows from love and with it comes protection, love, wholeness, clarity, groundedness and so much more. While Reiki is not a religion, It can be utilized to strengthen ones connection to self and their spirituality as a faily practice. Individual results vary.
Who can benefit from Reiki?
Reiki is a non-invasive complementary therapy, that is suitable for everyone, including pregnant women, babies, children, elderly, disabled and animals. Reiki harmonizes, clears and balances our mental, physical, emotional and etheric bodies that when out of alignment, lead to acute and chronic issues. Reiki is a great compliment to any form of therapy such as conventional healthcare, mental health, breath and bodywork and all other related modalities.

Are there side effects?
*The side effects of Reiki ultimately bring amazing benefits and are not just limited to the physical. They can also include mental, emotional and life altering ones.
Some commonly experienced side effects of Reiki include:
• Cold and sore throat
• Fever
• Abdominal disturbances/Stomach upsets
• Fatigue and increased need for sleep
• Less energy
• Light headedness
• Pain and sensations in different parts of the body, often in the heart and head.
• Emergence of unhealthy old mental-emotional patterns
• Life changes- relationships, career, location etc.
It is not necessary for everyone to experience all of these side effects.
Each individual is different and healing happens in a way that is right for them.
Every cell in our physical body carries imprints of all our experiences spanning several lifetimes. A lot of these imprints are negative, self sabotaging and karmic. Most of us were not even aware that we carried such a heavy load prior to experiencing the healing touch of Reiki. We were like dingy dark rooms, perfectly content in our limited worlds. When sunshine enters a dark room, there is no more room for darkness to stay. Similarly, the Reiki attunement makes us channels for light. As light floods our being, all the darkness stored in our cells has to leave. This is part of the healing process.
As this process takes its course, we experience the happy side effects of Reiki. This is often a long process as healing occurs in stages. Every time we heal and release one layer of darkness from our auras, we may experience some side effects. Then there is a break. Then we are guided to release the next layer and then we may experience different side effects. The body gradually flushes out every bit of toxicity stored in our cells before paving the way for greater wellness and a higher quality of life.
